FOUNDER AND CEO

Institute of Beauty Artistry was founded by Beatriz Hernandez, aka Mrs. BETTY in November of 2011. Mrs. Betty has 30+ years of experience as a Master Nail Artist, salon owner and Nail Artistry Instructor. Mrs. Betty refers to Nail Technology as Artistry, because to her, Beauty is an ART, and being a nail artist is her passion. “I don’t have blood in my veins, I have mix of polish, gels and liquid monomer” she says.

Mrs. Betty, born and raced in the Puerto Rico, started doing nails when she was 17 years old, right out of high school as something to do until she decided what the college plan was. The college plan change to be a technical career that will change her life forever.

In 1996, she decided to move to United States (mainland), single, 7 months pregnant, $280.00, one luggage full of clothes, a second luggage full of nail products and unstoppable dreams and goals to be an entrepreneur and open a Nail Salon.

She started working immediately in factory jobs; as a side job, she started doing nails door to door, carrying with her, her infant baby boy, diaper bag, car seat, that luggage full of nail stuff, and everything else needed to do nails to anyone who gave her the chance so she could make some extra money to support her child.

In 2000, Mrs. Betty, speaking almost no English, decided to jump on FAITH and open her first Nail Salon, changing the Nail Salons market by being the 1st  puertorrican female, single mom opening a Nail Salon in her city. Not only a Nail Artist with a full bag of nails supplies and dreams, Mrs. Betty reached her goal to be an entrepreneur at such young age and months after she expanded to be a Full Service Salon & Spa.

In 2005, then happily married and mother of 3 children, her family decided to relocate to Greenville, South Carolina. Soon after moving, Mrs. Betty shines again by opening the 1st nail salon in the Upstate own by a Hispanic woman and then in 2011 is when she shines brighter than ever, opening IBA, the 1st Beauty School in South Carolina owned by a Hispanic woman and the only school statewide teaching in both English and Spanish, and opening endless opportunities to students.
